Over a period of 4 months, Nov. 2005 thru Feb. 2006, RKO Industries, Inc. completed a post-Hurricane Katrina/Wilma ag plastic debris cleanup project in the Homestead, FL area.

Approximatley 1.5 million lbs. of ag plastic debris (90 tractor trailers - 100 cubic yd. ea.) were removed from 54 Homestead area nurseries free of charge.

The project saved nursery growers, collectively, an estimated $95,000 in logistics, contract hauling and landfill tipping fees.

RKO Industries, Inc. extends a special "thanks" to the Miami-Dade County Agricultural Manager's Office, University of Florida-T.R.E.C. and the Dade Chapter of the FNGLA for their support and efforts during this project.
